Spicy baked cauliflower steaks and crispy sage

Cauliflower is every parent’s best friend – you just haven’t realised it yet.

My kids eat so much cauliflower – and they don’t even know it.

When it is prepped THIS way however, I love it… so this is for the other half of the cauliflower that you haven’t pureed and stuck in the white pasta sauce/mac’n’cheese or food processed and stuck in with your steamed rice (more on those to come when I get around to doing some video blogs… yes they are coming).

And as a bonus it is totes easy to prep – 5 min tops!

INGREDIENTS

0.5-1 head of cauliflower sliced about 1 cm thick

A bunch of sage

Chilli flakes (omit if you don’t like spicy)

Olive oil (and olive oil spray)

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Parmesan cheese (freshly ground tastes best but I always have a pre-shredded pack in the fridge for when I run out of time)

METHOD

Preheat oven to 220 degrees Celcius

Toss the cauliflower in olive oil till lightly coated

Lay flat on an oven tray

Season with salt and pepper and chilli flakes

Bake for about 10 min and remove from oven

Sprinkle parmesan on top.  Spray the sage leaves lightly with olive oil and place on top of the parmesan and return to the oven for a further 5 min or until golden on top (and sage becomes crispy)

This as an awesome side dish for almost any type of protein – fish, chicken, lamb, pork – whatever.

Hope you give it a go – please like and SHARE, SHARE, SHARE away (if you like it)

And until next time, happy cooking (and eating)!!
